Anthony's is a native of Chicago, IL and began his artistic journey at the age of 16 as the Scarecrow in The Black Ensemble's production of The Wiz, working under the direction of Jackie Taylor. Soon after The Wiz Anthony attended Millikin University where he graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre. He was then accepted into the emerging artist ensemble of Deeply Rooted Productions, where I studied closely with Kevin “Iega” Jeff and Gary Abbott.  Deeply Rooted introduced Anthony to the professional world of concert dance, which eventually led him to become a member of Pittsburgh’s August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble during their last season.

As Anthony grew as a dancer it became important that he share his artistic voice creating new, original work. The first opportunity he had as a choreographer came during Kelly Strayhorn Theater’s  (KST) 2013 newMoves Dance Festival.  The work he presented was titled Identity.  It was an experience that validated him as an artist and led to choreographic opportunities with Carnegie Mellon University’s Infra Dance Company and Hope Academy for Performing Arts. In 2014, Anthony presented a work in progress entitled Loving Black, an exploration of the realities black men face. Using improvisational movement, historical content, and spoken word Anthony developed a story that embodied black men loving black men despite the conditions of racism, colorism, homophobia, and masculinity.
